Finishing one chapter and starting the next…

After almost four years at Autodesk as a Senior User Experience Designer,  working on Rendering and Design Data Interop (among other things), I have been let-go as part of a significant reorganization effort.

It was indeed a fantastic experience; I learned a tremendous amount, I got to visit exotic (and not so exotic) places, I met incredible people from all over the planet, and I got to do a wide variety of fascinating things. You cannot ask for much more in a job, and I leave with a grateful heart.

As you may imagine, I’m looking for new and challenging opportunities.

This time of change is an excellent opportunity to start with a clean slate on my old domain and start talking about all of the new things I’ve worked on the past few years. I have a few public posts on www.area.autodesk.com if you want to read about the last four years, and I have AU presentations and two SIGGRAPH “Vision Series” presentations that I’ll highlight in future posts.

I am a voracious learner, and I love to tinker and explore. Much of my planned writing will be about topics such as learning in general, technical writing, AR/VR, coding, computers, machine learning, IoT, and much more. I want to take the things I’ve been working on in my ‘spare time’ and write some posts. We learn the most when we share what we’ve learned.

The picture on this post is from a trip to Toronto I took not long after starting at Autodesk. I always liked it, and it is a nice bumper on my too-short four years working with that team.

On to new adventures!
